Chasing sublime moments (and sublimating ones) to sustain us through the long winter here at Lapsang Studios.

Rose How Low began by pitching down some of Juliana Daugherty's characteristically flawless vocal tones recorded many years ago for a (forthcoming, I swear) collaboration over in the Nettlesphere. The amniotic pulse clusters and long low tones that dominate the first half are composed exclusively from those takes. Wes brought his cello over and helped me solve the back half of the piece. The rose 'ere blooms high in the piano notes a few times but you'd really have to squint to see it.

And a pair of ice formations for my godson Jude. Greg Weaver spent a patient Saturday morning spinning ice ribbons from his menagerie of reed instruments and I ran a Jazzmaster in and out of pedals and presets and into a late-70s Vibrolux Reverb (thanks, Ned!) and back again until the brine flowers blossomed and a sea meadow materialized.
